- 2026 Summer Camp Nurse
Description
Rockwern Academy, Cincinnati’s pluralistic Jewish Day School, seeks a talented Registered Nurse for our 2026 summer camp. The hours are 9 AM - 3 PM Monday - Friday from June 2 - July 31, 2026 (no camp on July 3).

Objective
To provide healthcare oversight for campers (including medication administration, first aid, addressing illnesses and symptoms per our policies, and infection control), deliver health and safety education to camp staff, and serve as a healthcare liaison between the camp and families.”
Reporting Relationship
This position reports to the Camp Curiosity Director, Toni Brownell.
Responsibilities
- Familiarize yourself with the health documentation and health history of all campers
- Provide assessment, interventions, documented plans of care, communication, and follow-up for:
- Acute and chronic illnesses
- Communicable diseases
- Dental disease and injury
- Physical injuries and emergencies
- Mental health
- Nutrition
- Oversee the following activities:
- Medication administration (scheduled, PRN, OTC, prescription)
- Healthcare procedures (first aid, bandage changes, vitals monitoring PRN, etc.)
- Infection control
- Provide summer camp staff with the following health and safety education as needed:
- Bloodborne pathogens
- First aid
- Citizen CPR
- Hand hygiene
- Food safety, allergies, and cross-contamination
- Infection control and cleaning supplies
- Gloves and other PPE
- Establish and maintain excellent communication
- Complete documentation of each camper visit and send follow-up to parents promptly
- Answer questions from parents and camp staff promptly
- Perform regular rounds of each camper group to assess for wellness and safety
- Complete a daily debrief with the Camp Director before leaving each day
- Work as a team member to support communication between all staff members (Administration, Camp counselors, Maintenance staff, and Security).
- Additional projects may include:
- Collecting and filing new student health information for the upcoming school year, including organizing paper files and online data entry
- Assisting with the inventory, organization, and distribution of medical and emergency supplies
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications
- Registered nurse in Ohio in good standing
- Current CPR certification
- School nurse experience preferred
- Familiarity with FERPA laws, confidentiality, security, and safety in the camp setting
- Excellent communication skills, approachable manner, and professionalism to establish and maintain good working relationships with all Rockwern staff, students, and families.
